Our mission

Our main commitment is to support the millions of heroes who have made the decision to migrate to another country, seeking a better future for themselves and their loved ones.

Remittances constitute a central pillar in the economic sustainability of many families reducing poverty and increasing the quantity and quality of health and education.

We were born out of the desire to encourage and facilitate remittances from Europe through a quality service at the best price.

Since then, we have never stopped innovating in order to anticipate the needs of our customers. Our leitmotif is to simplify their lives by designing living services, accessible from an intuitive mobile application and which bring them closer to their loved ones.

Today we are going even further by offering our community to join a real revolution, the Smile revolution, which aims to simplify banking and facilitate the integration of our customers in their host country.

Here at Moneytrans we’re a group of enthusiasts seeking passionately to offer much more than a simple money-sending service. Our company is driven by our desire to offer a comprehensive range of value-added services which meet all the needs of our customers.

We’re unlike any other business in the sector. We are a family-run company which arose organically, based on the experience and knowhow of the people who work here and who have gained the trust of more than 10 million customers

Pioneers in everything we do, we were the first in Europe to offer a low cost and transparent service, and we are now the only ones to offer a multiservice platform that meets the unique needs of millions of residents of foreign origin in Europe.

European expansion

Between 2001 and 2005, Moneytrans obtains payment institution licences in several European countries, where it opens offices: Spain, Italy, Holland.

2005

Expansion in Africa

Moneytrans opens its first branch in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. 

2006

An essential operator in the remittances sector 

Thanks to an extensive payment network covering 110 countries and an excellent price-quality ratio, in 2010 Moneytrans is chosen as the best money transfer provider by the International Association of Money Transfers Networks (IAMTN).

European payment operator 

In 2011, Moneytrans is granted a licence as a European payment operator by the Begian National Bank.

Much more than money transfers 

With our EasyBill invoice payment service we make life easier for our customers. We also carry out transfers of large sums (for customers wishing to buy a house in their country of origin, pay university fees for their children etc).

On your web and mobile client space, through which you can consult and manage your account from A to Z, accessible via our web page: www.moneytrans.eu If you have opened your Smile account in one of our branches, ask for your client number in order to easily create your Moneytrans user account.

You will find all the data previously encoded in the agency. After having clicked on the “Registration” button, click on “Register with customer code”, insert your “customer number”, your “date of birth” and find all your data.

Moneytrans invests in new tools. 

Offering coverage in more than 120 countries, we decide to expand our investment in regulatory compliance, creating new automated monitoring tools. We want our customers to send their money without worrying, and this is why we carry out due diligence with our agents and partners in order to dissuade third parties from using our services for unlawful or criminal purposes.

2014

New Moneytrans services 

We want to offer our customers more opportunities to be close to their loved ones at a fair price, so we add some new services to our offer: national and international top-ups at unbeatable prices, and our prepaid EasyCard: no bank account and no start-up payment required. 

2015

We make way for the digital age

We believe in a hybrid model where customers can choose the transfer method that’s best for them; that’s why we launch our successful and intuitive digital money transfer platform. Described by the Belgian fintech association as “a breath of fresh air”, our goal is to fight against the high commissions charged by banks and for our customers’ financial inclusion. 

2016

European leaders, offering a world of opportunities

We continue the journey we started in 2013 towards financial inclusion, entering a new stage with the extension of our licence as a financial institution, thanks to which we are able to offer bank accounts (IBAN format) linked to all our services. We believe our customers should be able to access a “free” bank account where they only pay for the services they use, and at a fair price.  

2017

The new age of Moneytrans 

ollowing the success of our online platform, we work tirelessly to develop the best money transfer app on the market. Designed in Spain, the app was first launched in Belgium, Spain and the UK in 2017, allowing customers to make transfers via smartphone to more than 140 countries in a matter of minutes, and with the most advantageous exchange rates! In 2017 we celebrate the continuing success of Moneytrans and, for our new chapter, launch a new image and website in June 2017. An image that encapsulates our dynamic, energetic character; friendly, optimistic, elegant and contemporary.

2017

The sky is the limit!

We begin the year with European expansion, opening 14 offices in France. After that, given the terrible situation of the pandemic and with our customers’ safety in mind, we invest in the development of our online platform and launch it in all the countries we operate in, adding France and Italy to our digital age. And, best of all, we become the first fintech designed for the expat community with the launch of our Smile Account, which caters for all the financial needs of foreign workers, making their lives easier!

2020

Beyond financial services, the Smile Community

We've launched the first all-in-one app in our sector to cover all our customers' financial needs: make and track a money transfer, open and manage an account, send and receive payments, Whatsmore, they’ll be able to access a host of services! Currency exchange, mobile phones, transport services and more. They’ll be part of our Smile Community, where they can obtain advice and energise their future in their new country. And all this on a single platform! But the real revolution, is the possibility that we offer our customers access to educational , employability and entrepreneurship programs.

2021

Smile Account, a reality in Spain, France and Belgium

More than 25,000 foreign residents have managed to make their way in their country of destination and improve their living standards thanks to the appearance of the Smile Account.

A hybrid model in which the implementation of thousands of Smile points spread across the 3 countries and free access to the Moneytrans app has made it possible for thousands of families to easily have a current account with a Mastercard. Financial inclusion, one step closer.
